ITV Racing Tips on May 2nd - Saturday's selections on 2000 Guineas day
Saturday brings a stellar line-up of flat racing on ITV, highlighted by the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. Saturday's Tips
The 2000 Guineas headlines another wonderful day of flat racing this Saturday. Four races will be shown live from Newmarket, including the first Classic of the season. We'll also head to Goodwood for a couple of pattern races, and up to Yorkshire for the Thirsk Hunt Cup.
Here are my best betting tips for Saturday's ITV races.

ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 2nd May
1:30pm Goodwood - Chelmer Fillies' Stakes Tips
ZOOMING (4/1) shaped with plenty of promise on her return in the Fred Darling Stakes, and William Haggas' filly should appreciate this drop back in trip.
Cieran Fallon's mount won on her second juvenile outing at Newmarket, and made a bold bid against the rail in that 1000 Guineas Trial at Newbury. Fallon grabbed the rail and moved into a position to challenge at the furlong pole, only for her challenge to flatten out in the closing stages.
Despite a good deal of stamina on the dam's side of her breeding, Zooming seems at her most comfortable when travelling at a decent pace, so six furlong around a track like Goodwood should suit her well. Haggas' runners are going well at the moment. I think she's got a decent chance.
1:45pm Newmarket - Betfred Handicap Tips
Double Rush ran out a hugely impressive winner on his reappearance here at Newmarket, and Andrew Balding's charge is eight pounds well-in at the weights. Strangely, Oisin Murphy doesn't renew that partnership and rides Sir Les Patterson, and a low draw could prove problematic for the market leader.
I'll chance my arm with the old boy APOLLO ONE (25/1). Peter Charalambous' sprinter has history in this event, having finished a one-length second to Desert Cop in 2024.
Apollo One hasn't tasted victory since the Bengough Stakes at the end of that 2024 campaign. Charalambous' eight-year-old missed most of the first half of last season, but was busy during the autumn and raced five times out in the Middle East this winter. Despite finishing second in four decent races during the time period, Apollo One has dropped down to a workable mark of 98, and could boss this race from the front after a favourable draw in stall nine.
2:05pm Goodwood - Conqueror Fillies' Stakes Tips
If the likes of Blue Bolt and Shes Perfect are a little undercooked after their winter break, then ARISAIG (7/1) should be on-hand to take advantage. Jamie Spencer's mount picked up well from the rear on her reappearance under top-weight at Newmarket, staying on to finish a clear second behind front-running winner, Mister Winston.
Charlie Johnston's mare failed to win last season, but it wasn't for the want of trying. Arisaig was touched off in valuable handicaps at Ascot and Sandown, before a narrow defeat to Jonquil in the Celebration Mile here at Goodwood.
Arisaig won a handicap over this course-and-distance in 2024, and ran very well on both starts at this venue last season. Ground conditions should be ideal, and Spencer's mount has been drawn nicely in stall three.
2:20pm Newmarket - Suffolk Stakes Tips
All of the pace seems to have been drawn low, with Mister Winston, Thunder Wonder and Botanical in stalls two, four and five. TYCOON (16/1) ran well from a poor position on his reappearance behind Mister Winston at the Craven Meeting, and he's been handed a kind draw in stall three on this occasion.
Having shown promise for the Gosdens during the early months of his three-year-old season, Kevin Philippart De Foy struggled to get his recruit on the track. Tycoon only ran once at York during the second half of the 2025 turf season, and was well-beaten on his all-weather debut at Chelmsford in November.
Rowan Scott's mount basically ran on his own from a wide draw in stall 10 last month, but kept on well to finish four lengths behind Mister Winston in fifth. David Egan jumps into Tycoon's saddle on Saturday, and the extra furlong in the Suffolk Stakes should really suit.
2:40pm Thirsk - Thirsk Hunt Cup Tips
David O'Meara is a man worth following in most valuable handicaps over this sort of distance, and MIRSKY (11/1) looks to have a decent chance here.
Following a pipe-opener at Newmarket, Mirsky claimed a course-and-distance victory here at Thirsk last May, before powering to victory in another eight-furlong handicap on Oaks day at Epsom. O'Meara's seven-year-old struggled on his next two starts at Ascot and Sandown, before suffering a set-back which kept him out for the second half of the campaign.
Mark Winn's mount shaped well for a long way on his reappearance at Musselburgh, fading back to third from the front as favourite Noche Classica took over. Mirsky usually improves plenty for his first start of the season, and O'Meara's charge is capable of winning off this mark.
2:55pm Newmarket - Palace House Stakes Tips
With this current crop of sprinters, anyone can triumph on any given day, so I'm not interested in backing anything at a short price. One of the least fancied runners here is WASHINGTON HEIGHTS (25/1), despite running well for a long way on his reappearance in the Abernant.
Kevin Ryan's six-year-old races solely over five furlongs in 2025. Washington Heights beat Miss Attitude in the City Walls Stakes at York, having only been beaten two lengths in the King Charles III Stakes, before struggling in a couple of Group Ones later in the season.
Kevin Stott's mount broke and travelled well in the Abernant, but couldn't sustain his challenge over that six-furlong trip and faded in the final furlong. Returning to five furlongs should be a plus for Washington Heights, and he's certainly classy enough to win at Group Three level.
