The penultimate day at Glorious Goodwood centers on the highly anticipated 2026 King George Qatar Stakes, a premier sprint featuring 15 top-class runners. Despite favorite Night Raider leading the market, this year's race remains wide open, with notable contenders like Rumstar, Jakajaro, and returning champion Jm Jungle. The preview recommends backing Argentine Tango each-way at 20/1, citing her impressive recent Listed win and suitability for the race conditions. Bettors are advised to consider value options in this unpredictable sprint.

15 top sprinters will clash in Friday's feature. Night Raider heads the betting, despite an underwhelming performance at Royal Ascot. Rumstar was narrowly beaten by the favourite in the Palace House Stakes, and was last seen picking up his fifth Group Three or Listed victory in the Coral Charge at Sandown.

Jakajaro made all to win lucrative handicaps earlier in the season, and has since recorded top-five finishes in three top-level races. Jm Jungle returns to defend his crown, having bounced back to form at York. American Affair finished last at Royal Ascot, but performed better in the City Walls Stakes, finishing sixth behind Redorange.

Multiple Group One winner Asfoora has looked a shadow of her former self this term, but still sits fairly prominently in the betting. Commonwealth Cup runner-up Spicy Marg is the leading three-year-old in the contest. Aspect Island, Argentine Tango, Dickensian and Brussels will also represent the Classic generation.

Kieran Shoemark rides former Group One winner Time For Sandals for Harry Eustace. Partisan Hero and Azure Angel take up their entries. Swedish raider Lamborghini Bf is the rank outsider of the field.

2026 King George Qatar Stakes Tips

My usual MO with these sprints is to back something at a big price, and there are plenty at longer odds who hold appeal. I've come down on the side of ARGENTINE TANGO (20/1), who jumps back into Group Two company following an impressive Listed win at Ayr.

Tim Easterby's sprinter enjoyed an excellent juvenile campaign last term. Argentine Tango won the Hilary Needler at Beverley and the Empress Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket. Tom Eaves' mount managed to finish second to Lady Iman in the Molecomb Stakes here at Goodwood, before her form tailed off during the autumn.

Argentine Tango wasn't beaten far on her reappearance in France, and then failed to see out six furlongs here at Goodwood in the Chelmer. Easterby's filly got a little outpaced late on when sixth in both the Temple Stakes and the Scurry Stakes, before bouncing back to winning form in the Land O'Burns Fillies' Stakes.

Tom Eaves, who has ridden plenty of top sprinters down the years, will have to navigate stall one on Friday. Yet, three of the last nine winners have emerged from the inside stall, and the fast-starting Swedish raider should give Argentine Tango a lovely toe into the race on the inside part of the track.
