Gold Coast Titans vs North Queensland Cowboys Verdict


North Queensland were humiliated last week, losing 82-12 to the Roosters. I'm expecting a big reaction from the Cowboys as they remain in the finals picture. Take them to cover the -4.5 point line. 

  • North Queensland have won seven of their last nine games against Gold Coast.
  • The Cowboys’ last three wins over the Titans have all come by six points or more.
  • Gold Coast have conceded 104 points across their last three games at Cbus Super Stadium.
  • Scott Drinkwater has scored five tries in his last five matches against the Titans.

North Queensland have won four of their last five meetings with Gold Coast, including the last three in succession.

The Cowboys won 30-16 when the teams met in Townsville earlier this season, following a 30-24 victory at Cbus Super Stadium in 2025. They also dominated the Titans 50-18 in their first meeting last year.

Gold Coast Titans Form - Winning Run Ends


Gold Coast enter Round 23 after their two-game winning streak was emphatically ended by the Warriors in a 42-6 defeat.

The Titans had generated some momentum with consecutive 38-point performances against Manly and St George Illawarra, but they were outplayed from the opening stages last weekend.

New Zealand produced 12 linebreaks and almost 1,900 run metres, finishing with more than 700 additional metres than Gold Coast.

The Titans have averaged 22.4 points across their last five games but conceded 28.8. Their willingness to attack should help the total, although their inability to contain opponents makes them difficult to support.

North Queensland Cowboys Form - Absolute Thrashing


North Queensland must recover from the worst defeat in club history after conceding 14 tries in an 82-12 loss to the Roosters.

The Cowboys were 48-6 behind at half-time and showed little defensive resistance, missing 16 tackles and conceding six linebreaks before the break. They finished the game having allowed 11 linebreaks and almost 2,000 run metres.

It was a stunning collapse after North Queensland had won three of their previous four games, including victories over Penrith, Manly and Brisbane. 

Their 18-10 win over the Broncos had been built on strong defence and commitment through the middle, making the performance against Sydney even more difficult to explain.

Verdict

The Cowboys respond against the Titans in a high-scoring match with the game total going over 48.5 points and North Queensland covering as the away favourites. Scott Drinkwater will answer his critics with a try.
