Alex Michelsen meets Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of the 2026 Paris Masters, with the main betting tip focused on over 10.5 games in the first set. Both players have shown a tendency for long sets, as Michelsen has gone to three sets in his last three matches and Alcaraz has seen a tie-break in eight of his last twelve. These trends suggest a closely contested opening set, making the over 10.5 games market a logical selection for this fixture.

Carlos Alcaraz is coming off a title win in Vienna but has traditionally struggled on the hard courts in Paris. He needed 3 sets to beat Alex Michelsen in Tokyo so I am turning the games markets.

Michelsen Stuck in the Top 50

Alex Michelsen has been permanently placed in the Top 50 but remains unable to break into the Top 20.

The 22-year-old reached the US Open quarter-finals where he won the first two sets against Frances Tiafoe. He served for the match in the third set but couldn’t get it done and suffered a heartbreaking 5 sets defeat.

The American lost his opening matches in Tokyo, Shanghai, and lost to Arthur Fils in the Brussels quarter-finals. He met Fils again in Basel last week, going down 4-6 6-3 7-6 in the second round.

Michelsen came home strong in the first round in Paris, overcoming Jiri Lehecka 6-7 6-2 6-4 after winning 54% of his 2nd serves and saving 6/7 break points.

Alcaraz Chasing Fifth Title in 2026

Carlos Alcaraz is returning to top form after an injury layoff, going 16-2 and winning two titles. He was victorious in Tokyo before suffering a shock third round defeat to Zizou Bergs in Shanghai.

The Spaniard bounced back to win the title in Vienna without dropping a set. He got past Karen Khachanov, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Tommy Paul and Daniil Medvedev before taking out Alex de Minaur 6-1 6-4 in the final.

Verdict

Alex Michelsen has gone the distance in his last three matches and took Carlos Alcaraz to 3 sets a month ago. I think this one will be closer than the odds suggest.
