Andreescu Seeking Momentum After Tough Clay Season
Bianca Andreescu has struggled with injuries in recent years, making it difficult to regain her former level. To rebuild confidence, she spent time competing on lower-level circuits earlier this season and found success, reaching four semifinals or better, including a runner-up finish at the WTA 125 event in Austin.
However, she was unable to carry that momentum into the clay swing. Her last five events across all levels ended in the early rounds, and she managed just three main-draw wins during that stretch, highlighted by second-round appearances in Charleston and Rome.
This will be Andreescu's third appearance in 's-Hertogenbosch, a tournament where she has enjoyed some success. She reached the final in 2024 and the quarterfinals in 2025, and will be hoping the return to grass helps revive her season.

Mertens Looking to Defend 's-Hertogenbosch Crown
Elise Mertens is coming off a disappointing French Open campaign, where she suffered a straight-set defeat to qualifier Maja Chwalinska, 6-4, 6-0. It was her second loss this season to a player ranked outside the Top 100, following a defeat to Karolina Pliskova in Madrid.
Mertens owns a perfect 9-0 record in opening-round matches this year, but she has struggled to turn those starts into deep tournament runs. Her best results of the season include fourth-round appearances at the Australian Open and Rome, along with a third-round run in Dubai.
The Belgian returns to 's-Hertogenbosch as the defending champion. Last year, she defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova and Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the latter stages on her way to the title. She holds a 4-3 record in first-round matches at this event.
