Neither player has been at their best this season, but Boulter’s experience and stronger track record on the surface make her the slight favorite in this clash.

She owns a 3–6 record against Top 50 players in 2026.

Boulter Hoping Grass Brings Better Results

Katie Boulter once again struggled to make an impact on clay. Apart from a quarterfinal run in Rouen, she won only three matches across her other five clay-court events during the swing.

The Brit endured a disappointing second half of last season, winning just three main-draw matches after the grass season and falling out of the Top 100. However, she has shown signs of improvement in 2026, highlighted by a title in Ostrava, a quarterfinal appearance in Merida and a third-round run in Miami.

This is Boulter's second appearance at the Queen's Club. She reached the second round on her debut last year and will be hoping for a deeper run this week after a frustrating clay-court campaign.

Canadian Star Searching for Consistency

Leylah Fernandez enjoyed an outstanding finish to last season, winning two tour-level titles. However, she struggled to carry that momentum into 2026, managing just two match wins across her first seven tournaments and suffering five opening-round exits.

The Canadian has shown encouraging improvement during the clay swing, reaching the quarterfinals in Madrid, Stuttgart and Strasbourg. Despite those positive results, her most recent outing ended in a straight-set defeat to Alycia Parks at Roland Garros.

This is Fernandez's second appearance at the Queen's Club Championships. She made her debut at the event last year but fell to Tatjana Maria in straight sets and will be aiming for a better result this time around.
