Raphael Collignon is playing the best tennis of his career, reaching the Bastad final after a grueling run featuring multiple three-set matches. However, the physical toll from this effort raises concerns as Collignon heads straight into another demanding clay-court tournament. With limited recovery time, Collignon could be at a disadvantage against Daniel Altmaier, who enters the match fresher and more experienced. At underdog odds, Altmaier is recommended as good value, especially for a straight sets victory.

Raphael Collignon is enjoying the best form of his career, but his run to the Bastad final may have taken a significant physical toll. The Belgian came through five demanding matches, including four three-set battles, and has little time to recover before the start of another clay-court event. That could leave him vulnerable against a fresher and more experienced opponent.

Altmaier Faces A Tough Early Test

  • Altmaier holds a 2–1 record in first-round matches at Kitzbuhel.
  • He has a 3–10 record against Top 50 players in 2026.
  • Collignon owns a 6–4 record in tour-level opening-round matches in 2026.
  • He has a 26–5 record against players outside the Top 50 this year.

Altmaier Targets a Winning Week

After a successful grass swing, Daniel Altmaier competed in Bastad last week, where he defeated Hugo Gaston in the first round before losing to Luciano Darderi in the second. He will now look to build on that performance this week.

The 27-year-old started the season with eight consecutive first-round exits, but has improved significantly since the start of the clay swing. He reached the quarterfinals in Bucharest and Hamburg, finished runner-up at the Naples Challenger, and made the semifinals in Halle.

This will be his fourth appearance in Kitzbuhel. He reached the semifinals on his debut in 2021, the second round in 2023, and suffered an opening-round exit in 2024.

Collignon Builds on Gstaad Breakthrough

Raphael Collignon produced the best result of his career last week by reaching his maiden ATP Tour final in Gstaad, where he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in a tight three-set match.

He has also reached the quarterfinals in Brisbane and Halle, along with third-round appearances in Miami and the French Open. Those results, together with three Challenger finals, helped him achieve a career-high ranking of No. 37 recently.

Collignon now arrives in Kitzbuhel looking to carry the momentum from Gstaad into another strong week and continue his rise on the ATP Tour.
