Australian veteran James Duckworth faces rising Spanish star Rafael Jodar in the French Open 2026's second round. Duckworth has a poor clay record against top players, while 19-year-old Jodar is in red-hot form, recently cracking the Top 30 and winning his first ATP title. With Jodar dominating his first-round match and carrying strong momentum from recent tournaments, the recommendation is to back the Spaniard for the win. The match promises exciting tennis and can be followed with various live streaming options.

James Duckworth has never reached the third round at Roland Garros where he is making up the numbers.

Rafael Jodar got off to a flying start in Paris and can continue that form against the Australian.

Duckworth Making up the Numbers at Roland Garros

James Duckworth went 5-9 on hard courts this year, losing all four matches against Top 50 players.

The 34-year-old played his first two clay courts events on the Challenger circuit, reaching the final in San Luis Potosi and winning the title in Mexico City. He got into the Geneva Open as a lucky loser, losing to World No.238 Laslo Djere in the first round.

The Australian had some luck at Roland Garros, leading 6-3 4-1 when Gabriel Diallo retired.

Jodar Surging Towards the Top 20

Rafael Jodar has been a huge improver this year, climbing from 165 to 29 in the world rankings. He won his first ATP Tour title in Marrakech and lost to Arthur Fils in the Barcelona semi-finals.

The 19-year-old took out Alex de Minaur and Joao Fonseca on his way to the quarter-finals in Madrid where he went down to Jannik Sinner. He reached another quarter in Rome where he faded in a 7-6 5-7 6-0 loss against Luciano Darderi.

The Spaniard thrashed Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-1 6-0 6-4 in the French Open first round. He won 73% of his 2nd serves and allowed only one break point.

Verdict

Rafael Jodar keeps climbing the rankings with the Top 20 in sight for the teenager. I don’t think he will show James Duckworth any mercy at the French Open, the handicap markets in play.
