Linda Noskova and Alexandra Eala will clash in a high-stakes semifinal at the WTA Berlin tournament. Noskova dominated her route, winning all matches convincingly, but hasn't faced a top-ranked opponent yet. Eala, on the other hand, made an impressive run by defeating two top-10 players—including Svitolina and Rybakina—showcasing strong form and confidence on grass. Given Eala's recent performances and confidence, she may offer greater value in this matchup, despite Noskova’s grass-court strengths.

Noskova Yet to Be Tested in Germany

Linda Noskova moved into the semifinals after defeating Paula Badosa in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. She saved all seven break points she faced and converted four of the nine opportunities she created during the match.

The Czech has enjoyed a comfortable route so far this week and has won all three of her matches in dominant fashion. She has not lost more than five games in any match, including victories over Renata Zarazua and Diane Parry before this quarterfinal clash.

With this win, Noskova snapped a three-match losing streak in quarterfinals this season. Her only previous semifinal appearance of 2026 came at Indian Wells, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets.

Noskova holds a 5-6 record in tour-level semifinals. Her only previous grass-court semifinal ended in defeat against Jessica Pegula in Bad Homburg last year, and she will now be looking to reach the first grass-court final of her career.

Eala Stuns Svitolina to Reach Berlin Semifinals

Alexandra Eala moved into the semifinals after defeating World No. 8 Elina Svitolina in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Despite dropping serve three times, she never trailed at any stage of the match and remained in control throughout.

It was another outstanding performance from the Filipina, who had already eliminated World No. 2 Elena Rybakina in the previous round. The victory was her fourth win against a Top 10 player this season from just six matches, underlining the progress she has made at the highest level.

With this result, Eala extends her impressive grass-court record to 9-1 in 2026. The run includes a victory over last week's London champion Donna Vekic in the opening round and the WTA 125 title in Birmingham a few weeks ago. It marks a remarkable turnaround after a disappointing clay-court swing.

Eala holds a 1-2 record in tour-level semifinals. Her only victory at this stage came on grass in Eastbourne last year, where she defeated Varvara Gracheva to reach the first tour-level final of her career.

Verdict

Linda Noskova has been dominant this week, although she has yet to face a truly difficult test. Alexandra Eala, meanwhile, has defeated three quality opponents, including two top-10 players, to reach this stage.

Both players continue to improve on grass, and while Noskova may possess the higher ceiling on the surface, Eala’s performances this week have been extremely impressive. With confidence firmly on her side, Eala appears to offer the better value in this matchup.
