Mayar Sherif carries an extraordinary 18-match clay-court winning streak into the Hamburg semifinals after a hard-fought win over Paula Badosa. Facing local favorite Tamara Korpatsch, who leads their head-to-head 2-1, Sherif aims to leverage her consistency and momentum despite potential fatigue from tough recent matches. Korpatsch has improved her form with resilient Hamburg performances, but Sherif's dominance on clay and back-to-back semifinal runs make her slightly favored in this matchup.

Sherif Keeps Title Momentum Rolling

Mayar Sherif advanced to the semifinals after defeating Paula Badosa in a grueling three-set encounter, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4. She squandered a 4-1 lead in the opening set but recovered to win it in the tiebreak, which proved decisive in the match.

This is the first time Sherif has reached back-to-back WTA Tour semifinals in her career. She lifted the title in Iasi last week after dropping only one set throughout the tournament.

With this run, Sherif has extended her clay-court winning streak to 18 matches, including WTA 125 titles in Brescia and Contrexeville. It marks an impressive turnaround for the Egyptian, considering she had won multiple matches at only two tournaments before mid-June.

She heads into this clash with a 4-1 career record in WTA Tour semifinals, having won each of her last two appearances at this stage.

Tamara Korpatsch Sparks Hamburg Revival

Tamara Korpatsch moved into the semifinals after defeating Anhelina Kalinina in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. It was her third three-set victory of the week after earlier wins over Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva and Julia Stusek.

This is an impressive turnaround for the German, who arrived in Hamburg having failed to win multiple matches in seven of her previous eight tournaments, including an 0-4 record during the grass-court season.

Before this week, Korpatsch had won multiple main-draw matches at only three tournaments this year, reaching the finals in Ostrava and the WTA 125 event in La Bisbal, along with the third round at the French Open.

She heads into this clash with a 2-3 career record in WTA Tour semifinals, with both of her victories at this stage coming in her two most recent semifinal appearances.
