Waltert Seeks Fresh Start
Simona Waltert reached the final of the Bastad WTA 125 a few weeks ago, but failed to build on that result, suffering an opening-round loss to Katarzyna Kawa the following week.

Sherif Continues Her Clay-Court Surge

The Egyptian was ranked close to No. 130 just a few weeks ago, but three consecutive clay-court titles, at Iasi and the WTA 125 events in Brescia and Contrexeville, have lifted her close to the top 50 in the rankings.
Sherif is currently on a 15-match winning streak on clay, an impressive turnaround for the 30-year-old. Before her title run in Iasi, she had not recorded multiple main-draw wins at tour level since 2024.
This will be her fourth appearance in Hamburg. She reached the quarterfinals in 2024 but suffered first-round exits in her other two appearances, in 2023 and 2025.
