Fritz Into Fourth Final


Taylor Fritz is still searching for his first title this year, losing three finals. He lost to Ben Shelton in Dallas, Stuttgart and Frances Tiafoe in Halle.

The 28-year-old was looking good at Wimbledon, dropping one set on his way to the quarter-finals. He was easily beaten by Alexander Zverev, winning just 33% of his 2nd serves in a 6-4 6-4 6-2 defeat.

The World No.10 had no issues in his opening two matches in Washington, 6-3 6-4 victories against Zizou Bergs and Kamil Majchrzak.

He saved a match point in a 6-1 3-6 7-6 victory over Alex Michelsen and went the distance again in the semi-finals, outlasting Brandon Nakashima 6-3 3-6 6-3.

Jodar Moves Into Top 20


Rafael Jodar broke through to win his first ATP Tour title in April, in Marrakech. He lost to Arthur Fils in the Barcelona semi-finals to break into the Top 50.

The 19-year-old reached the quarter-finals in his next three events on clay, knocked out by Top 20 players on each occasion. He lost to Jannik Sinner in Madrid, Luciano Darderi in Rome and Alexander Zverev at the French Open.

The Spaniard made his debut on grass at Wimbledon, beaten by qualifier Shintaro Mochizuki in the third round.

Jodar had a strong start in Washington, beating Arthur Fils 7-6 6-3 and Kei Nishikori 6-3 6-2. He has done it the hard way in his last two wins, coming back to beat Lorenzo Musetti 1-6 6-1 6-4 and Alejandro Tabilo 6-7 6-4 6-4.
