Insurance is offered when the dealer's upcard is an Ace: up to half your original bet, paying 2:1 if the dealer has blackjack.
In a standard 6-deck shoe:

"Even money" is insurance on a blackjack hand when the dealer shows an Ace: a guaranteed 1:1 payout instead of the 3:2 natural. The maths is identical.
