Before Stake.com was launched, Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani founded Prime Dice. This was one of the original Bitcoin gambling games. Now, this iconic game is available at Stake.com. Here’s all you need to know about Prime Dice, including strategies to help you win more frequently.
What is Stake Originals Prime Dice?
If ever there was a game that deserved a place in the Stake Originals collection, it’s Prime Dice. The original Prime Dice was a simple game in which players bet on whether the roll of a virtual die would be ‘under’ or ‘over’ a specific number between 0.01 and 99.99.

Stake has now remastered its original BTC gambling game with new features, including dual and quadruple sliders. These allow players to bet on different ranges of numbers, adding more excitement and suspense to this classic dice game.

Understanding Roll Between, Roll Outside, or Roll Between Two
Unlike regular dice games, where players simply bet ‘Over’ a certain number, this variant has different options. Therefore, in learning how to play Prime Dice, you need to understand the sliders.
Roll Between
The Roll Between option is indicated by two dots with a dash joining them. With this option, you have two adjustable markers. To win, the dice roll must be between your selected numbers. The maximum payout on the Roll Between mode is 9,900x.

Roll Outside
This is the opposite of Roll Between. To select this mode, click the two dots that have dashes pointing outwards. You win if the roll is a number outside of the selected range. The max win when betting on Roll Outside is 4,950x.

Roll Between Two
Roll Between Two has four markers on the slider. It allows players to bet on more specific number sets, such as roll between 10.00 - 20.00 and 80.00 - 90.00. Again, you win if the roll number is between one of your sets. The max win on this mode is also 4,950x.

Stake Prime Dice Game RTP and Features
The Prime Dice RTP is 99.00%, which represents great value for players. In regard to the user interface, it has the same minimalistic design as all other Stake Originals.
The slider is front and center, with tabs for the three modes of play directly below it. To the left of the slider, or below when playing on a mobile, is the Bet Amount bar and the Bet button. These are the features you can expect on Prime Dice:
- Auto Play
- 2x and 1/2x Quick Bet Buttons
- Mini Player
- Instant Bet
- Live Stats
- Theater Mode
- Hotkeys
Prime Dice Strategy and Gameplay Tips
Prime Dice is a versatile game in that you can play it in a way that suits you. The multiplier goes from 1.0102x up to 9,900x, allowing you to choose how volatile the game is.
These are some tips and effective strategies to consider when you play.
Low Multipliers = Lots of Wins
An effective strategy for boosting your Stake VIP level is to go for wins with low multipliers. For example, if you set the multiplier at 1.10x, you will win many more times than you lose. This helps to turn over your bankroll multiple times, which helps your VIP status and earns you a bit of rakeback, too.
Of course, you will lose some rounds, so it’s important to manage your bet amount. If you’ve got $100 to play with, I’d suggest flat betting around $5 a round.
Go for the Max!
Unlike video slots, players can choose if they want to go for the 9,900x max win or not. However, you must consider that there is no in between. When playing Prime Dice, you either win or lose. There are no small payouts like slots offer to keep your bankroll ticking over.
That said, chasing a max win is part of the thrill of playing these games. You have a 0.01% chance of hitting the max, so adjust your bet amount accordingly. With a $100 budget, I’d only wager around $0.10 - $0.50 a round.
Try a Few Betting Systems
Prime Dice is the perfect game for betting systems because you have the even money (2.00x multiplier) payout, and the RTP is better than any variant of roulette. Some of the most common Prime Dice betting strategies are:
- Martingale
- Paroli (Reverse Martingale)
- Fibonacci
- D’Alembert
- Labouchere (Cancellation System)
Remember that some of these strategies are high risk. For example, the Martingale system requires players to double their stake after a loss. This doesn’t sound too bad, but if you lose 10 consecutive rounds, you are suddenly betting considerably more, which could wipe out your entire bankroll.
Other Popular Stake Originals
Stake has been on a charge this year. Prime Dice is the 9th Stake Original game that was released in 2025, bringing the total to 27 for the collection. A few other hugely popular titles are:
- Mines
- Plinko
- Dice
- Crash
- Snakes
- Limbo
- Packs
- Pump
- Flip
- Darts
