England vs Australia Rugby League Game 3 Tips & Preview - Kangaroos to complete Rugby League Ashes sweep

The third and final clash of the Rugby League Ashes Series sees Australia leading England 2-0. Australia's dominance is evident, having won 15 consecutive matchups since 1995, including this series' previous games. Although England's defense improved in Game 2, Australia secured a 14-4 victory. Looking ahead, the game promises to be more open and high-scoring. Australia is predicted to cover a -15.5 line and complete a series whitewash, with total points expected to surpass 37.5, suggesting an aggressive playstyle from both sides.

England vs Australia Game 3 Preview

Australia have an unassailable 2-0 lead over England in the first Rugby League Ashes Series in 22 years. While the trends are screaming 'low-scoring clash' once more, I'm keen to go against it and predicted points in this dead rubber.

I'm backing Over 37.5 total points and for the Kangaroos to finish off the series in style by covering a -15.5 line.

Head To Head

Australia and England have squared off on 27 occasions since 1909, with the Kangaroos holding a 18-7 lead in the head to head. Australia have won 15 games in a row dating back to 1995.

Australia won 26-6 in Game 1 before producing a workmanlike performance to come away with a 14-4 victory in Game 2 last weekend.

England Form

Another tough day at the office for England in Game 2 as they failed to score a try in a 10-point defeat, meaning they remain winless against Australia since 1995.

England's defence was much-improved from the opening game where they leaked 26 points, but their resistance was finally broken in the early stages of the second-half.

Dolphins star Herbie Farnworth was once again impressive in the centres, running for 114 metres off 16 carries, while AJ Brimson debuted at fullback, running the ball 15 times for 123 metres.

There's no doubt England lack the class and firepower to consistently hang with the Aussies, but they should be buoyed by the fact they had more tackle breaks and run metres in Game 2.

Australia Form

The Kangaroos did what they needed to do in order to wrap up the Ashes, toiling away until they finally broke through England's defences, scoring two second-half tries to secure the 14-4 victory.

Scores were level at 4-4 at half-time, with Nathan Cleary and Harry Smith both booting two penalty goals.

Five-eighth Cameron Munster crossed for the opening try of the game in the 48th minute before Hudson Young doubled the Aussies' try tally four minutes later - and that's the way the game finished.

Reece Walsh was again electric at fullback, but he faces a nervous wait to see if he's suspended for his high shot, with Dylan Edwards waiting in the wings as his replacement.

In any case, Kevin Walters is set to make widespread changes, with the likes of Bradman Best, Jacob Preston and Ethan Strange a chance to make their debuts.

Verdict

Expect a more free-flowing game in this dead rubber, with more points and the Kangaroos covering in a big victory to close out a 3-0 series whitewash.
