Playing Conditions

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is played on quick outdoor hard courts, and the numbers strongly support that description. Over the past five years, matches in Dubai have consistently rewarded strong servers and first strike tennis, with high service hold rates and plenty of cheap points on serve.

Hot desert temperatures, dry air, and lively evening sessions under floodlights further enhance the court pace. With daytime highs between 28–31°C and manageable humidity levels, conditions generally favour big servers and aggressive baseliners who can take control early in rallies.

Players to Watch

Félix Auger-Aliassime
Last year’s runner-up returns as the top seed and a genuine title contender. With several higher ranked players skipping the event, this is a major opportunity for him to capitalise. He has already proven he can thrive in Dubai’s quick conditions and arrives fresh with solid form behind him.

Alexander Bublik
Bublik reached the final here in 2024, confirming that these courts suit his aggressive and creative style. When focused, his serve and first strike tennis become extremely difficult to contain in fast conditions. If his game clicks for a full week, he has the tools to go deep again.

Andrey Rublev
Rublev has been one of the strongest performers in the Middle East swing this decade, winning the Dubai title in 2022. After a solid showing in Doha, confidence appears to be building. If he plays at his usual high intensity level, he is more than capable of making another serious run.

Ugo Humbert
Although unseeded, Humbert lifted the trophy here in 2024 and has already claimed a title earlier this season. He consistently performs well at ATP 500 level events and knows how to manage tight matches. Expect him to be a dangerous floater in the draw once again.

Verdict

With the draw opening up and several higher ranked names absent, Félix Auger-Aliassime looks primed to capitalise as top seed after last year’s runner-up finish.

Former champion Andrey Rublev and 2024 winner Ugo Humbert are strong outright picks given their proven record in these conditions, while Alexander Bublik remains a dangerous threat capable of making a deep run if he catches fire across the week.
