Carlos Alcaraz has officially withdrawn from the 2026 grass court season, missing both Queen’s Club and Wimbledon due to a lingering wrist injury. The two-time defending Wimbledon champion confirmed he is still not fit to compete after intensive rehabilitation. His absence dramatically shifts the men's draw, with Jannik Sinner now the outright betting favorite to win Wimbledon, followed by Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev. Sinner, fresh off a dominant run and last year’s title, is now widely tipped to claim the crown.

The grass court swing has suffered a monumental blow. Carlos Alcaraz has officially withdrawn from Queen’s Club and Wimbledon due to a wrist injury sustained at the Barcelona Open on April 14.

The 23-year-old Spaniard confirmed the news via social media. Citing a rigorous rehabilitation, the two-time Wimbledon champion admitted he is "still not ready to compete."

Alcaraz’s decision to miss consecutive Grand Slams for the first time since 2020 leaves a gaping void in the draw and completely reorganises the hierarchy of the men's game heading into the summer.

Alcaraz's 2026 Record

Before the wrist injury halted his momentum in Barcelona, Alcaraz was putting together a stellar campaign. His crowning achievement of the year came at the Australian Open in February, where he captured the title by defeating Novak Djokovic in the final.

He followed that up with a dominant title run in Marseille, beating Arthur Fils in the final. A grueling transition to the American hard-court swing saw him fall to Daniil Medvedev in the Indian Wells semi-finals and suffer a shock exit to Sebastian Korda in Miami.

On the European clay, Alcaraz made it to the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters where he fell to Jannik Sinner. Days later in Barcelona, his wrist gave way during an opening-round win against Otto Virtanen, forcing his mid-tournament withdrawal.

Carlos Alcaraz Wimbledon Results

Losing Alcaraz means losing one of the finest players on grass. After an initial learning curve on the surface in his teenager years, Alcaraz completely cracked the code, famously stopping Novak Djokovic’s historical dominance on Center Court.

Here is a look at how Carlos Alcaraz has performed at the All England Club throughout his career.

YearResultNotable Match / Exit
2021 Second Round Defeated by Daniil Medvedev in straight sets
2022 Fourth Round Lost a four set match against Jannik Sinner
2023 Champion Defeated Novak Djokovic in a five set final
2024 Champion Successfully defended his title against Djokovic
2025 Semi-finals Fell to Jannik Sinner in the final

Wimbledon 2026 Betting Odds

Bookmakers had originally priced Alcaraz as a tight co-favorite alongside Sinner. With the Spaniard officially out of the picture, sportsbooks have adjusted their lines and positioned Jannik Sinner as odds-on to capture his first Wimbledon crown.

Sinner is playing the most ruthless tennis of his career. Having completely dominated over the last four months and winning Wimbledon last year, the title is Sinner's to lose.

Novak Djokovic is a seven-time Wimbledon champion, but after suffering a straight sets defeat to Sinner in the semi-finals last year, beating the World No.1 is a tall order.
