Scheduled to kick off on Thursday, July 16, VCT 2026 Americas Stage 2 marks the final split of the VALORANT league for the Americas region, and the biggest regional event before the season-ending VALORANT Champions.
The stage will feature an expanded field, with 12 franchised squads joined by four Challenger teams, who will enter the battle for the VCT Americas trophy and direct invites to the world championship.
Even with the expanded list of participants, the focus will be on the usual heavyweights such as Leviatan, NRG, and G2 Esports, who are once more billed as the teams to beat. However, with the gap closing fast, no team should feel safe in what promises to be a tight and entertaining battle for the gold medal.

Leviatan have long been viewed as a team with a very high ceiling, and they put that on full display at Masters London, where Leviatan made a run for the trophy. They also placed second in Americas Stage 1, proving that Leviatan can not only perform domestically, but also internationally.
Entering Stage 2 as the most in-form team from the Americas, Leviatan are unquestionably a squad to watch. But G2 Esports can’t be counted out entirely either.
G2 Esports started the season with a runner-up finish in Americas Kickoff, and they added a gold medal from Stage 1, after placing fourth in Masters Santiago.
However, despite the promising start to the season, G2 Esports stumbled at Masters London where they placed seventh-eighth, and failed to improve the impression at the Esports World Cup, with a ninth-12th place finish.
Even with those shaky results, it can be easy to justify saying that G2 Esports are the best team ahead of VCT Americas Stage 2, purely due to their high ceiling and experience. The big question, however, is whether G2 will find their stride and show what they’re capable of over the next two months.
Sitting close behind the leading two are NRG, as the most consistent team from VCT Americas. This season, NRG have placed third in the Kickoff tournament, Stage 1, Masters Santiago, and second in the Esports World Cup. Their only slip-up happened at the Masters London, where NRG crashed out in ninth-10th.
With NRG, you know what you’re getting – a highly competitive team who will consistently produce good results. However, NRG have yet to prove that they can take that step forward and claim a trophy.

Verdict
VCT Americas Stage 2 promises a tight battle between Leviatan, G2 Esports, and NRG, who are justifiably the leading three candidates to hoist the trophy.
Leviatan are the most in-form, having placed second in Stage 1 and won the recent Masters London, which is a good indication of their quality. Meanwhile, NRG have been extremely consistent, with two VCT Americas bronze medals and a silver from EWC, but as impressive as that is, NRG ahve yet to catch up with Leviatan and G2 Esports.
Of the three, G2 Esports are the easiest to defend as potential champions. While their performance in London was shocking, G2 consistently perform domestically, and there is nothing to suggest they can’t do it again.
Form-wise, G2 Esports are not in a great spot, but they’ve shown before what they’re capable of.
