Gauff Continues Solid Season Start

Coco Gauff defeated Kamilla Rakhimova 6-3 7-6 to reach the third round in Indian Wells. She trailed 2-5 in the second set and saved the set twice before completing the comeback in straight sets. 

With this win, Gauff has now cleared the opening-round hurdle in all six of her appearances here. She is aiming to reach the fourth round for the fourth consecutive time. 

Gauff has made a solid start to the season, winning three of her four matches at the United Cup, reaching the quarterfinal at the Australian Open, and the semifinal in Dubai.

Eala Shows Nerve in Decider

Alexandra Eala defeated Dayana Yastremska 7-5 4-6 7-5 in a tight comeback win to make a mark in Indian Wells. She was broken at 4-4 in the final set but immediately broke back and closed out the match. 

It is a much-needed victory as she has a significant number of points to defend in Miami next week, so a few wins here would ease the pressure. 

The Filipino has already made a strong start to the season. Apart from early exits in Australia and Doha, she reached at least the quarterfinal in four other events, helping her climb to a career-high ranking of No. 31.
