Arnaldi Finding Form at the French Open


Matteo Arnaldi had a horrible start to the season, losing eight of his opening ten matches and dropping down to World No.107. He won the Cagliari Challenger against a strong field to regain confidence.

The Italian took that form to Rome where he defeated Jaume Munar and Alex de Minaur. He couldn’t stick with Rafael Jodar in the third round, saving 3/10 break points in a 3 sets defeat.

Arnaldi’s form has held up at Roland Garros, getting past Tallon Griekspoor 6-7 6-3 7-6 6-3 in four hours. He came home strong to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6 5-7 6-3 6-2, hitting 46 winners and 28 unforced errors.

The 25-year-old went over five hours in the third round, a 6-4 6-7 5-7 6-4 7-6 victory over Raphael Collignon. He was efficient once again, hitting 80 winners and 63 unforced errors.
