Jakub Mensik and Joao Fonseca are set for their first career Grand Slam quarter-final meeting at Roland Garros. Both rising stars have shown impressive resilience, with Mensik surviving two previous five-set matches and Fonseca outlasting elite talent, including Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud. Expect a marathon contest, with betting tips favoring a long, five-set battle, and Fonseca slightly favored for a narrow victory. The match promises non-stop action and could go over 37.5 games. Tennis fans can catch all the excitement via live stream links provided.

Joao Fonseca has been riding a wave at Roland Garros, taking out Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud. Jakub Mensik is more than capable of providing a challenge on clay, this one backed to go the distance.

Mensik on Track to Return to Top 20

Jakub Mensik won the title in Auckland and was on track at the Australian Open, forced to withdraw before a fourth round clash against Novak Djokovic.

The 20-year-old beat Jannik Sinner on his way to the Doha semi-finals but was unable to maintain that form. He started the clay court swing ranked 27, failing to get to a quarter-final in Madrid, Rome and Hamburg.

The Czech began the French Open with a routine 6-3 6-2 6-4 win against Titouan Droguet. He went off court in a wheelchair at the end of a grueling 6-3 2-6 6-4 1-6 7-6 second round win over Mariano Navone, saying: “It’s insane to play in this weather and especially in front of the sun.”

It looked like that fatigue would carry on against Alex de Minaur before he turned it around to come through 0-6 6-2 6-2 6-3. He was two sets up against Andrey Rublev, overcoming a mid-match blip to win 6-3 7-6 4-6 2-6 6-3.

Fonseca on a Giant Killing Run at Roland Garros

Joao Fonseca had a slow start to the season before running into some top opponents on hard courts. He lost to Jannik Sinner in Indian Wells and Carlos Alcaraz in Miami.

The 19-year-old met more Top 10 players in Madrid and Munich where he was beaten by Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton. He didn’t last long in Madrid and Rome but has come to the fore at the French Open.

The Brazilian eased past Luka Pavlovic in straight sets before coming came back to beat Dino Prizmic 3-6 4-6 6-3 6-1 6-2. He produced another strong performance to outlast Novak Djokovic 4-6 4-6 6-3 7-5 7-5, hitting 68 winners and 47 unforced errors.

Fonseca met another contender in the fourth round, coming through to defeat Casper Ruud 7-5 7-6 5-7 6-2. He said: “Casper plays good here. He’s a very experienced guy and he knows how to play here in this amazing court.”

“He has two finals, so it was tough in the beginning, but I played really good in the important moments in the first and second set. I was very happy because of that.”

Verdict

Jakub Mensik and Joao Fonseca are into unchartered territory here, both players competing in their first Grand Slam quarter-final. I don’t think there will be much in this one, a 5 set thriller on the cards at Roland Garros.
