As Jelena Ostapenko prepares to face Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the Doha quarterfinals, all eyes are on the Latvian player who has shown impressive form recently. Ostapenko's 10–2 record versus players outside the top 50 in quarterfinals makes her a clear favorite against Cocciaretto, who is feeling the effects of a demanding week. Cocciaretto's track record in tour-level quarterfinals stands at 6-7, and she has yet to demonstrate consistent wins in such high-pressure matches. This sets the stage for Ostapenko to potentially secure a straightforward win.

Ostapenko Steps Up in Doha Showdown

Jelena Ostapenko powered into the Doha quarterfinals by ending Camila Osorio’s nine-match winning streak with a 6-3, 6-1 win. She was broken twice but dominated the key rallies throughout.

She began the week with a tight three-set win over Anastasia Zakharova before raising her level to defeat Abu Dhabi finalist and world No. 10 Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets.

This marks her first three consecutive main-draw wins since her Stuttgart title run last April. It is also her first such streak on hard courts since reaching the Doha final last year.

Ostapenko has lost six of her last 10 quarterfinals, but she owns a strong 10-2 record at this stage against players ranked outside the top 50.

Cocciaretto’s Hard-Court Surge Continues

Elisabetta Cocciaretto reached the quarterfinals with a 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 win over Ann Li. She let a 5-3 lead slip in the second set but recovered from a break down in the decider.

After losing in qualifying, she has taken full advantage as a lucky loser with three straight wins. Her recent Hobart title highlights her progress on hard courts.

She has already matched her best outdoor hardcourt win tally within weeks of the new season. Her off-season work is clearly paying off.

Cocciaretto holds a 6-7 record in tour-level quarterfinals, including 3-4 on hard courts. Two of those wins came in Hobart.
