Marta Kostyuk, fresh off a dominant clay season, faces 17-year-old Mika Stojsavljevic, who earned a main-draw wildcard following significant ranking progress. While grass has historically challenged Kostyuk, her current form and confidence provide a significant edge against Stojsavljevic, who has struggled against top players. This is their first head-to-head, and Kostyuk is strongly favored to advance given her experience and recent success, despite her grass-court woes outside of Wimbledon.

While grass has not always brought out Kostyuk’s best tennis, her current confidence and overall level should be enough to overcome a less experienced opponent.

Stojsavljevic Earns Another Main-Draw Opportunity

Mika Stojsavljevic has received a main-draw wildcard for the third time in her career this week. Her previous wildcard appearances came in Tokyo in 2024 and Wimbledon in 2025, with both campaigns ending in defeat.

The 17-year-old has made impressive progress over the last 12 months. Ranked around No. 1000 this time last year, she climbed to a career-high ranking of No. 258 thanks to finals in the W35 events in Monastir and Birmingham, a semifinal run in the W100 event in Dubai, a semifinal in Manchester and a quarterfinal appearance at the WTA 125 event in Birmingham.

Stojsavljevic heads into this match with a 2-6 career record against Top 100 opponents. One of those victories came earlier this year in the Billie Jean King Cup, where she defeated then world No. 56 Talia Gibson in straight sets.

Kostyuk Carries Red-Hot Form Into Grass Season

Marta Kostyuk is coming off a superb clay-court swing, winning 17 of her 18 matches. Her only defeat came against eventual champion Mirra Andreeva at Roland Garros. During that stretch, she captured the titles in Rouen and Madrid.

Before the clay season, Kostyuk played only a limited schedule due to the injury she suffered at the Australian Open. Despite that setback, she reached the final in Brisbane and the third round at both Indian Wells and Miami. Those results helped her achieve a career-high ranking of No. 12 earlier this month.

Grass has been a more challenging surface for the Ukrainian. Last year, all three of her grass-court campaigns ended in the opening round. Apart from reaching the third round at Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024, she has struggled to record main-draw wins on grass and will be hoping to change that trend this season.

Verdict

Marta Kostyuk may not have the strongest grass-court record outside of Wimbledon, but considering her opponent’s lack of experience and overall ability, she is well placed to carry her dominant recent form from clay onto the grass and progress further.
