Giron in Poor Form

Marcos Giron has been out of the Top 50 since October, dropping as low as 92 in June. He reached the third round at Wimbledon, going down in straight sets to Alexander Zverev.

The American has gone 3-4 on hard courts, all three wins coming against players outside the Top 100. He lost to Cruz Hewitt in Washington and Henrique Rocha in Cincinnati.

The 33-year-old suffered another disappointing defeat in Winston Salem, beaten 6-3 7-5 by World No.394 Dhakshineswar Suresh in the first round.

Ignacio Buse won the Hamburg Open as a qualifier to become a Top 50 player for the first time.

The 22-year-old lost his opening two matches on the hard court swing, beaten by Cameron Norrie in Montreal and by Adam Walton in Cincinnati.

The Peruvian put that behind him in Winston Salem where he won another title. Three of his opening four victories came in 3 sets but he had no problems in the final, thrashing Arthur Fery 6-3 6-2 in 71 minutes.
