Mboko Seeking Clay Momentum

Victoria Mboko had played only one clay-court event before this week, losing in the opening round to Caty McNally in Madrid. It was her first opening-round defeat since Ningbo last year. 

Mboko enjoyed her first major breakthrough during the 2025 clay swing. She reached the third round at French Open as a qualifier after also making the final in Parma, marking the first time she recorded multiple tour-level wins. 

The 19-year-old has already produced several strong results this season, including finals in Adelaide and Dubai, quarterfinals at the Sunshine Double, and a fourth-round run at the Australian Open. Those performances helped her break into the top 10 earlier this year.

Boisson Continues Comeback Journey

Lois Boisson moved into the second round after defeating Wang Xinyu 6-3, 7-6. She trailed 2-5 in the second set and needed seven match points to finish the match in straight sets. 

The 23-year-old has struggled with multiple injury setbacks since last year, which significantly slowed her progress and kept her sidelined until a few weeks ago. 

Before this week, Boisson had played three tournaments this season and lost all of them. She also has major points to defend at French Open after reaching the semifinals there as a qualifier in 2025.
