Gold Coast Suns vs Collingwood AFL Betting Tips - Suns to shine brightest in Round 17

The Gold Coast Suns aim to end their five-game losing streak in a crucial clash against Collingwood, who have won two consecutive matches but struggled outside Victoria. The Suns, despite form concerns, have a strong home advantage, winning 9 of their last 11 at People First Stadium against interstate teams. Key players Nick Daicos and Noah Anderson are tipped to accumulate big numbers. With injuries under control, both sides look competitive, but the Suns' home record could tip the balance in their favor. Recommendation: Suns to win, with Daicos and Anderson likely to have high disposals.

Gold Coast Suns vs Collingwood Verdict

Gold Coast are on a five-game losing run and now a place below Collingwood on the ladder. This is a crucial game as a result and it is the Suns who are backed to get back on track at home.

While the Suns have struggled against the competition's top sides, their form at People First Stadium remains a major strength and that can be the difference.

  • Gold Coast have taken out the past two matches between the two sides.
  • The Suns have won nine of their past 11 against interstate opposition at the venue.
  • Nick Daicos has had 35+ disposals in his past five matches.
  • Noah Anderson has had 30+ disposals in his past five matches against the Magpies and has had 33 and 43 in the past two rounds.

Head to Head Stats

Gold Coast have won the past two matches between the two sides by six points and 11 points, with both of those played at People First Stadium at a similar stage of the past two seasons.

Gold Coast Suns Form - 5 In A Row For Suns

Gold Coast come in with a 7-8 record and have dropped their past five matches. They come off a 51-point defeat at the hands of the ladder leaders and could manage just three goals for the night.

The Suns now sit in 11th spot on the ladder and have struggled against the competition's best sides, losing their past eight matches against teams currently inside the top 10.

They won the clearances against Fremantle but could not get the game on their own terms, going down 190-269 in uncontested possessions, leading to a 40-54 inside 50 count.

Noah Anderson provided opportunities with 33 disposals and has had 30 or more in five of his past seven matches. Jed Walter kicked two of the Suns' three goals, while Ben King booted the other. King has kicked 43 goals from 15 matches in 2026.

Collingwood Form - Pies Win 2 Straight

Collingwood come in with a 7-7-1 win-loss-draw record and have won their past two matches, defeating Port Adelaide by 26 points a fortnight ago before a 34-point victory over Richmond last weekend.

Nick Daicos was once again a massive accumulator with 37 disposals and has now produced 35 or more in each of his past five matches. The Brownlow Medal favourite also kicked three goals in another best-on-ground performance.

Josh Daicos gathered 29 disposals after producing 30-plus in his previous two matches, while Lachie Schultz kicked four goals.

Collingwood have a strong record against the lower-ranked sides and are unbeaten in six matches this season against teams below them on the ladder. However, they have lost all three matches outside Victoria in 2026.

Gold Coast Suns Team News

Gold Coast did enjoy some good news in the loss to Fremantle with no injuries from the match. Sam Clohesy has another game to serve on suspension, while Will Powell and Lachie Weller are among several players on the Suns' lengthy injury list who are closing in on a return.

Collingwood Team News

Brayden Maynard is a strong chance to return from a shoulder injury, while Angus Anderson and Lachie Sullivan are a pair with strong VFL form pushing for selection. Darcy Moore remains on the sidelines.

Verdict

Suns are backed to snap their losing streak with a crucial win. I'm also tipping Nick Daicos and Noah Anderson accumulating big numbers.
