Port Adelaide vs Fremantle Dockers Verdict 


Fremantle Dockers can continue their quest for the minor premiership by adding another win to their tally. The ladder leaders can take advantage of an undermanned Port Adelaide in what should be a low scoring affair.

Fremantle have taken out the past two matches between the two sides, including the most recent meeting by six points, which was played in Round 21 last season at Adelaide Oval.

Port Adelaide Form - Finals A Push Now


Port Adelaide sit 14th on the ladder with a 6-11 record and remain mathematically in the finals race despite last week's 14-point loss to St Kilda. 

It was a brave performance given the Power lost Zak Butters, Mitch Georgiades and Lachie Jones to injury during the match, yet still mounted a second-half comeback and actually finished with more scoring shots in the 10.13 (73) to 13.9 (87) defeat. 

Jason Horne-Francis again showed why he is becoming one of the competition's premier midfielders, collecting 23 disposals, eight clearances and two goals against the Saints.

Prior to that, they had won consecutive matches against Adelaide and North Melbourne.

Port Adelaide are now 3-6 at Adelaide Oval this season, although four of those defeats have come by three points or less and another by only 14 points, highlighting how competitive they have remained at home.

Fremantle Dockers Form - Ladder Leaders


Fremantle continue to set the pace in 2026, sitting on top of the ladder with a 15-2 record and two games clear after a stunning 38-point win over Sydney.

The Dockers trailed during the third quarter before exploding with 12 of the final 14 goals, including a club-record 9.5 (59) in the final term. They remarkably recovered from a goalless first half to kick 15.10 (100) after the main break.

Josh Treacy starred with four goals and has now kicked two or more in nine of his past 10 matches, including three or more in four of his past six. 

Fremantle also continue to boast the AFL's No.1 ranked defence, conceding just 70 points per game this season.

The Power have been hit hard by injuries and suspension, losing Zak Butters, Jason Horne-Francis, Mitch Georgiades and Jack Lukosius. Todd Marshall, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Christian Moraes and Mitch Zadow all return, while Balwyn O'Brien has been handed his AFL debut.

For Freo, Hayden Young returns after missing last week's win with a groin complaint, replacing managed midfielder Shai Bolton. Justin Longmuir has also retained Mason Cox ahead of Sean Darcy as the Dockers continue to back their current ruck setup.
