England vs Spain Predictions & Betting Tips - Spain to Show their Class in the Nations League

Spain secured the World Cup by conceding just one goal, underlining their defensive prowess and consistent form. In contrast, England have struggled at the back, conceding ten in their last five matches. Recent form and head-to-head stats favour Spain, who have won six of their last seven and often prevailed against England recently. With Spain’s solid line-up and momentum, they are predicted to overcome England even at Wembley. The consensus recommendation: back Spain for the win.

England fell short at the World Cup, unable to handle the pressure and conceding too many goals.

Spain were deserved champions after conceding once, won their last clash at Wembley and can win once again.

Key Stats

  • England have conceded 10 goals in their last 5 matches.
  • Spain have won 6 of their last 9 matches against England.
  • Spain have won 6 of their last 7 matches.
  • Spain have kept 7 clean sheets in their last 8 matches.

England lead Spain 13-11 alongside four draws. They last met in the 2024 European Championship final, Mikel Oyarzabal’s late goal earning Spain a 2-1 win in Berlin.

Three Lions Go Again

England performed well at the World Cup but were unable to get over the line. They had few problems in the group stage before Harry Kane scored two late goals in a 2-1 win against DR Congo.

Jude Bellingham scored twice at the Azteca Stadium before Jarell Quansah was sent off, Kane converting a crucial penalty as the Three Lions held on to beat Mexico 3-2.

Bellingham was the hero against Norway, equalising in the first half and scoring again in extra time to secure a 2-1 victory.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were on track to beat Argentina in the semi-finals after Anthony Gordon put England ahead. They capitulated late on, Lionel Messi assisting Enzo Fernández and Lautaro Martínez to give the South American side a 2-1 win.

England took a 4-0 lead against France in the third place playoff, they were pegged back to 4-3 before late goals to Bukayo Saka and Bellingham earned a 6-4 win.

England Squad, Team News & Predicted Line Up

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, James Trafford, Jason Steele

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Elliot Anderson, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Morgan Gibbs-White, James Garner, Alex Scott

John Stones, Reece James, Djed Spence, Noni Madueke and Ollie Watkins are among the nine players left out from the World Cup squad.

Tuchel spoke about the inclusion of Trent Alexander-Arnold: “He had a good start in two positions for Real Madrid and he comes as a right-back for us.”

“[He needs to] perform, that's just what it is. It is a competition and I understand the question because he was not with us at the World Cup. We trusted other players.”

“I still stick with this decision and it is now time to fight for his place. He always said he is up for a fight, he always said he is up to fight for his place - especially for England.”

England (4-2-3-1): Jordan Pickford; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guéhi, Nico O'Reilly; Elliot Anderson, James Garner; Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon; Harry Kane

Spain on Top of the World

Spain haven’t lost in regulation time since March 2024, a run of 38 games. They lost to Portugal on penalties in the 2025 Nations League final.

Luis de la Fuente started the World Cup with a 0-0 draw against Cabo Verde before winning six straight matches. The run included victories over Portugal (1-0), Belgium (2-1) and France (2-0).

La Roja completely dominated Argentina in the final New Jersey. Ferran Torres came off the bench to score the winning goal in extra time, Spain ending with 65% possession, 20-2 shots and 2.29-0.22 xG.

De la Fuente recently renewed his contract and will guide the team to the 2030 World Cup.

Verdict

Spain won the World Cup after conceding just one goal at the tournament. England’s defence is nowhere near as strong as La Roja and despite playing at Wembley, I am backing La Roja to be too good.
