Finland vs Albania Tips & Predictions – Visitors Underestimated in the UEFA Nations League

Finland continued its lackluster streak by failing to defeat underdog Belarus earlier this week, extending their competitive winless run to 12 months. Given this slump, Albania—currently in strong form—emerges as the clear favorite heading into their next match. The prediction is for Albania to capitalize on Finland's struggles and clinch a win.

It took them some time, but it looks Albania found consistency under new coach Rolando Maran, winning both of their UNL games so far. Finland's form was poor throughout 2026, so I see value in backing the visitors.

Key Stats

  • Finland have lost 2 of their last 4 matches.
  • Albania have won their last 2 matches.

Finland Lead H2H

These two nations locked horns seven times so far and Finland hold a 4-2 advantage in terms of victories. The most recent one was in 2002.

Hosts Tagged Light Favorites

Finland started the new UEFA Nations League season in best way possible, claiming a commanding 7-0 victory against San Marino last Saturday.

Joel Pohjanpalo (three goals) and Adrian Svanback (one goal, two assists) played key roles in this convincing win. The Finns ended the clash with 3.84-0.04 xG, 75% possession and 23-1 shots.

They hosted Belarus on Tuesday in the second round, controlled possession and missed three goal chances, ultimately settling for a goalless draw.

Albania Chasing Promotion

Albania are having a perfect start to the new UNL 2026 campaign, collecting six points from their opening two games and currently lead Group 1.

Rolando Maran’s side defeated Belarus 2-0 at home in the first appearances, Kristjan Asllani and Ernest Muci finding the net in the first half (fired 20 shots total).

There were no problems in the second round against minnows San Marino, taking a 3-0 victory on Tuesday. Rey Manaj was named man of the match, scoring one goal and registering one assist.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Finland (4-3-3) Lukas Hradecky; Adam Stahl, Tony Miettinen, Ville Koski, Juho Lahteenmaki; Kaan Kairinen, Adam Markhiev, Glen Kamara; Leo Walta, Joel Pohjanpalo, Topi Keskinen

Goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky is the captain with 106 appearances for then ational team. Joel Pohjanpalo is the leading scorer with 22 goals in 91 matches.

Albania (4-2-3-1) Alen Sherri; Ermal Sina, Ardian Ismajli, Berat Djimsiti, Mario Mitaj; Juljan Shehu, Kristjan Asllani; Myrto Uzuni, Ernest Muci, Anis Mehmeti; Rey Manaj

Thomas Strakosha will miss all UNL games due to an injury, as well as defender Arlind Ajeti. Armando Broja was not called up this time.

Verdict

Finland failed to beat underdog Belarus earlier this week, while their last good result in competitive environment was 12 months ago. I am backing in-form Albania to win here.
