After a disappointing performance against Italy, France is set to face Belgium with renewed determination. Analysts expect France to be highly motivated to bounce back, leveraging their strong squad. While Belgium boasts significant offensive firepower, predictions suggest they may only manage a consolation goal. Ultimately, France is favored to emerge with a victory, aiming to restore confidence and momentum in this crucial encounter.

France defeated Belgium in late September when they locked horns in Liege and I expect Les Bleus to do it again on Monday. However, the Red Devils have good scoring potential, so a home win & BTTS is a value bet.

Key Stats

  • France have won 9 of their last 12 matches.
  • France have won their last 6 matches against Belgium.
  • Belgium have lost 2 of their last 4 matches.
  • Belgium have scored in 6 of their last 7 matches.

H2H is Tied

These two nations locked horns 79 times so far and the score is tied at 30-30, while 19 encounters ended without a winner.

France Slipped on Friday

France failed to impress in Zinedine Zidane's debut in the UNL 2026 first round but collected three points against Turkey with a 1-0 victory in Kocaeli with Kylian Mbappe finding the net right after the break.

A similar scenario and identical outcome were seen in the second match, also on the road against Belgium where Les Bleus got away with a 1-0 victory thanks to Michael Olise's late goal.

Olise broke the deadlock against Italy on Friday too, scoring an amazing free kick goal, but France couldn't keep their net intact, the game ending in a 1-1 draw with Dayot Upamecano sent off in the 85th minute.

Good Start for the Red Devils

Belgium's chances of reaching the UEFA Nations League 2026 playoffs are high after securing six points from the opening three rounds.

The Red Devils were tagged light underdogs in the first match against Italy in Rome but created a lot of chances through counterattacks and won 2-0 (Mika Godts and Dodi Lukebakio on target).

After losing narrowly to France 1-0 in the second round, Belgium crushed Turkey 3-0 at home on Friday. Veteran Kevin De Bruyne was the hero, netting a brace, Romelu Lukaku also on target.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

France (4-3-3) Mike Maignan; Pierre Kalulu, Jeremy Jacquet, Maxence Lacroix, Adrien Truffert; Eduardo Camavinga, Adrien Rabiot, Rayan Cherki; Michael Olise, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue

France have to adapt without star forward Kylian Mbappe, who misses out following a left knee hyperextension injury suffered earlier in this international cycle. Dayot Upamecano is suspended.

Belgium (4-3-3) Senne Lammens; Timothy Castagne, Brandon Mechele, Joel Ngoy, Maxim De Cuyper; Nicolas Raskin, Romeo Lavia, Hans Vanaken; Dodi Lukebakio, Charles De Ketelaere, Mika Godts

Head coach Mark van Bommel must manage without injured attackers Jeremy Doku and Leandro Trossard, alongside goalkeeper Mike Penders and Thibaut Courtois.

Verdict

France had a disappointing display against Italy on Friday, so I expect them to be motivated to bounce back against Belgium. The visitors have amazing offensive potential and should score here, but only as a consolation.
