Saudi Arabia controlled the contest with 67% possession. They also outshot Kuwait 19-5 and finished with a higher xG total of 1.55 compared with 0.35.
Helio Sousa’s side have now failed to win any of their last five matches, with only two wins picked up in 17 games since December 20204.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Iraq boss Graham Arnold admitted that his side had struggled to reach their best against Oman.
“We were not the better team, and we must work harder in the coming matches in order to secure the win.”
Arnold pointed to Iraq’s rushed preparations as a key factor. The Lions of Mesopotamia managed only one training session before the tournament, compared with more than six for Oman.
“We fielded a number of young players, and we had a number of chances in the last quarter of an hour that we were unable to convert into goals. I am proud of the players, and we will offer our best in the coming fixtures.”
