Georgia and Northern Ireland are set to face off in Monday's UNL 2026 fixture. Georgia's recent three games have seen only two goals in total, showcasing tight defensive play. Northern Ireland, for their part, have kept a perfect defensive record, conceding no goals at all. With both teams demonstrating defensive prowess, the key recommendation is to expect a low-scoring encounter. The teams’ solid backlines could very well result in few, if any, goals being scored in this crucial match.

All signs are pointing at a low-scoring affair in Belfast. Northern Ireland didn't concede a single goal in three games, while Georgia are yet to score their first, so under 2.5 looks like a reasonable choice.

Key Stats

  • Northern Ireland have kept a clean sheet in 4 of their last 5 matches.
  • Northern Ireland have seen under 1.5 goals in 2 of their last 3 matches.
  • Georgia have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 6 matches.
  • Georgia have seen under 1.5 goals in their last 3 matches.

Two Previous Meetings

Northern Ireland locked horns against Georgia two times so far and won on both occasions.

Hosts Yet to Concede a Goal

Northern Ireland are having a fantastic start to the UEFA Nations League 2026 edition, collecting seven points from three games and are close to securing promotion to the top division.

They kicked things off with a 1-0 road victory in Georgia where Shea Charles scored the winning goal in the 99th minute, followed by a goalless draw against Hungary at home.

Their best performance so far was seen on Friday, claiming a convincing 3-0 victory against Ukraine on a neutral court in Slovakia. Ciaron Brown was named man of the match, scoring two goals.

Georgia Going Through a Crisis

After suffering an unexpected 1-0 home loss against Northern Ireland last Friday, Georgian FA decided to sack national coach Willy Sagnol, while Ramaz Svanadze was appointed to replace the Frenchman.

Svanadze’s debut was in the second round where Georgia hosted Ukraine. They were more dangerous side, posting 0.96-0.20 xG and had 14-7 shots yet had to settle for a goalless draw.

Georgia's promotion hopes have been reduced to a minimum after losing to Hungary 1-0 on Friday in Budapest, ending this clash with 0.45-1.66 xG and 8-26 shots.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Northern Ireland (4-3-3) Pierce Charles; Trai Hume, Ruairi McConville, Daniel Ballard, Ciaron Brown; Brodie Spencer, Shea Charles, Justin Devenny; Patrick Kelly, Isaac Price, Jamie Donley

Northern Ireland have to cope without captain and defender Conor Bradley due to a knee injury, alongside midfielder Alistair McCann, who is sidelined with a hamstring issue. Furthermore, Brad Lyons and Jamie McDonnell remain unavailable for selection.

Georgia (5-3-2) Giorgi Mamardashvili; Otar Kakabadze, Saba Goglichidze, Luka Lochoshvili, Lasha Dvali, Shalva Kharebashvili; Giorgi Kochorashvili, Otar Kiteishvili, Giorgi Chakvetadze; Giorgi Mikautadze, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Georgia have arrived in Belfast with a fully fit roster and no fresh injury concerns.

Verdict

Georgia's three games in the UNL 2026 had just two goals, while Northern Ireland didn't concede a single goal. I am predicting a low-scoring affair on Monday.
