Talisca has been outstanding, scoring first in all five of Fenerbahce’s matches this season. Lyon, meanwhile, struggled defensively, conceding 14 goals in their last five matches. Despite having never beaten Lyon historically, Fenerbahce’s current home form, reinforced by key returning players, positions them as favorites. Fenerbahce have never beaten Lyon but have a great chance here. Talisca has been unstoppable in an advanced role and with key players set to return, I am backing the Turkish club at home.

HTH - Lyon Unbeaten


Lyon have met Fenerbahce five times and never lost, winning the first four encounters. The last meeting came in January 2025, a 0-0 draw in the Europa League group stage.

Fenerbahce Falter in Super Lig Opener


Fenerbahce have had few problems in the Champions League qualifiers, getting past Gornik Zabrze in the second round. They had 79% possession and 1.61-0.06 xG in a 1-0 home win before a 1-1 draw in Poland.

Talisca scored first in both legs and continued the trend in the third round. He scored first in two victories over Sturm Graz, 2-0 in Turkey and 1-0 in Austria.

Ismail Kartal saw his side lose 2-1 at Genclerbirligi in their opening Super Lig match. Talisca scored first for a fifth straight game but the Yellow Canaries couldn’t close it out, ending the contest with 71% possession 11-3 shots on target and 2.90-1.19 xG.

Lyon Overturn Deficit in the Third Round


Lyon enjoyed a resurgence last season, finished fourth in Ligue 1. Corentin Tolisso and Pavel Sulc top scored with 11 goals each.

Paulo Fonseca’s side got past Sparta Prague in the Champions League qualifiers. Tolisso couldn’t convert a penalty in a 2-1 defeat in Czechia despite Lyon going into half-time with a 1-0 lead.

Ernest Nuamah put the French club in front at home and they were given a helping hand before the break when Sparta were reduced to 10 men. Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Tyler Morton scored in the second half to earn a 3-0 victory.
