Andrey Rublev Form

Rublev is 17-9 this year and closing on a return to the Top 10. He reached three semi-finals on hard courts but ended the swing with early exits in Indian Wells and Miami.

That form continued on clay in Monte Carlo where he suffered a 6-4 6-1 second round defeat to Zizou Bergs.

The Russian capitalised on a comfortable draw to get to the final in Barcelona where he suffered a 6-2 7-6 defeat to Arthur Fils. He went out early again in Madrid, beaten 6-3 6-4 by Vit Kopriva in his opening match.

The 28-year-old hasn’t dropped a set in Rome, registering 6-4 6-4 victories over Miomir Kecmanovic and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Nikoloz Basilashvili Form

Basilashvili hasn’t been a Top 50 player since 2022. He came to Italy after failing to qualify or get past the first round in 12 ATP Tour events this year.

The Georgian got through the qualifiers in Rome where he has surprised many by taking out two seeds. He got past Daniel Merida Aguilar in 3 sets before beating Ben Shelton 6-4 6-7 6-3, saving 2/3 break points against the World No.6.

The 34-year-old hit 34 winners and 25 unforced errors in a 7-6 6-4 victory against Brandon Nakashima. He allowed just one break point in another strong serving performance.

Verdict

Andrey Rublev is a short priced favourite here but has been inconsistent on clay. Nikoloz Basilashvili has been steadily improving in Rome and can shock Rublev in the fourth round.
