Aryna Sabalenka is favored to win her upcoming Berlin Open clash against Ekaterina Alexandrova, thanks to her impressive form and consistency. Despite the pair being tied 4-4 in past head-to-head meetings, Sabalenka's dominance over lower-ranked opponents and stronger season performance set her apart. Alexandrova, who has struggled recently, will look to regain her form, but Sabalenka's current level makes her the top pick to progress, likely in straight sets.

Sabalenka Looking to Regain Winning Rhythm

Aryna Sabalenka entered Roland Garros as the favourite to lift the title but suffered a disappointing defeat to Diana Shnaider after leading by a set and 4-1. She finished the clay-court season with an 8-3 record, her lowest winning percentage on the surface in the last four years.

Before the clay swing, the Belarusian had enjoyed the best start of her career. She won 23 of her first 24 matches of the season and collected three titles, putting together one of the strongest runs on tour during the opening months of the year.

Sabalenka has made five previous appearances in Berlin. She won just one match across her first three visits before improving her results with a quarterfinal run in 2024 and a semifinal appearance in 2025.

Alexandrova Ends Losing Streak in Berlin

Ekaterina Alexandrova moved into the second round in Berlin after receiving a retirement win from Anastasia Potapova, who was trailing 1-6 when she was forced to stop the match. The result snapped Alexandrova's five-match losing streak on tour.

The Russian was one of the most consistent players on tour last season, producing 11 quarterfinal-or-better results and breaking into the Top 10 for the first time in her career. However, her level has dropped significantly this year, with multiple wins coming at only one of her 14 tournaments so far.

Last season, Alexandrova played three grass-court events and reached at least the fourth round in all of them. She will be hoping to rediscover that level and use this week as a chance to rebuild her confidence on the surface.
