Barbora Krejcikova moved into the semifinals after defeating last year's finalist Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-1, 6-3. She fired six aces and dropped serve only once during another commanding performance.
Her path to the semifinals has been relatively comfortable. Krejcikova opened with a win over world No. 77 Renata Zarazua, followed by a victory against world No. 97 Hanne Vandewinkel. Across all three matches this week, she has not conceded more than five games in any contest.
With this victory, Krejcikova snapped a six-match losing streak in quarterfinals, including one walkover defeat, and reached her first semifinal since the 2024 WTA Finals. It is also her first grass-court semifinal since her Wimbledon title run in 2024.
The Czech has battled injury setbacks in recent years, most recently a left knee injury suffered in Beijing last season. Before this week, she had won only two matches from five tour-level events in 2026, with her runner-up finish at the WTA 125 event in Parma standing as her best result.
Krejcikova owns an outstanding 13-2 record in tour-level semifinals. Her only defeats at this stage came against Aryna Sabalenka in Linz in 2020 and Qinwen Zheng at the 2024 WTA Finals.
