Stefanos Tsitsipas, a three-time Monte Carlo champion, is struggling with recent form, having dropped out of the Top 50. In contrast, Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo, known for his consistency on clay, is poised to capitalize on the Greek's vulnerabilities. Despite Tsitsipas's past successes, Cerundolo is expected to advance in Monte Carlo. The match, set for April 6, 2026, will be streamed live, allowing fans to witness whether Tsitsipas can regain his form or if Cerundolo will seize the opportunity for a notable victory.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has had plenty of success in Monte Carlo but can’t be trusted on recent form. Francisco Cerundolo is an experienced campaigner on clay and get off to a winning start.

Cerundolo Comfortable on Clay

Francisco Cerundolo lost to Alexander Zverev in the Australian Open fourth round before turning his attention to clay. He won the title in Buenos Aires and went out in the Santiago semi-finals.

The Argentine ran into some top opponents on the sunshine swing, beaten by Jack Draper in the third round in Indian Wells.

Cerundolo was last seen in Miami where he knocked out seeds Daniil Medvedev and Ugo Humbert. He ran into Zverev again in the quarter-finals where he was thrashed 6-1 6-2 in 6 minutes.

Tsitsipas on the Slide

Stefanos Tsitsipas is a three time champion in Monte Carlo but has been a shadow of his former self for over a year.

He has beaten Taylor Fritz, Daniil Medvedev and Alex de Minaur this year but got to just one ATP Tour quarter-final. That came in Doha where he was defeated 6-3 7-6 by Andrey Rublev.

The 27-year-old reached the third round in Miami where his vulnerability was exposed by Arthur Fils. He won just 26% of his 2nd serves in a 6-0 6-1 defeat, beaten in 55 minutes.

Verdict

Stefanos Tsitsipas dropped out of the Top 50 last week and Francisco Cerundolo is a consistent performer on clay. I can’t trust Tsitsipas on current form, Cerundolo to get through in Monte Carlo.
