Ukrainian Extends Clay Winning Streak
Marta Kostyuk moved into the fourth round after defeating Viktorija Golubic 6-4, 6-3 at Roland Garros. She had to work hard early in the match but settled into her game as it progressed.
With this win, Kostyuk has matched her best result at the French Open. Her only previous fourth-round appearance came in 2021, when she lost to Iga Swiatek in straight sets.
The Ukrainian has now extended her clay-court winning streak to 15 matches. During that run she lifted the titles in Rouen and Madrid, the latter being the biggest title of her career.
The results are particularly notable after she missed two months through injury and struggled for wins immediately after returning.

Paris Brings Out the Best in Swiatek
Iga Swiatek got revenge for her Miami loss earlier this year with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Magda Linette to reach the fourth round. Swiatek dropped serve three times but broke her opponent on five occasions to come through in straight sets.
This is Swiatek's eighth consecutive fourth-round appearance at the French Open. Apart from a straight-set loss to Simona Halep at this stage on her debut in 2019, she has won each of her last six fourth-round matches in Paris.
The Pole made a slow start to the season and has not looked as dominant as in previous years. Several early exits came after her level dipped in longer matches, and she failed to get past the quarterfinal stage for much of the season.
There have been encouraging signs in recent weeks, however. Swiatek reached her first semifinal of the year in Rome and has now won all three of her matches in Paris in straight sets.
She holds a 14-7 record in Grand Slam fourth-round matches and enters this stage on a seven-match winning streak.
