Dominant Week Continues for Romanian
Sorana Cirstea moved into the fourth round after a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over Solana Sierra. She broke serve six times and needed little more than an hour to complete the victory. It was her third straight-set win of the week and she has lost only seven games across her three matches.
This is only the third time Cirstea has reached the fourth round at Roland Garros in 17 main-draw appearances. She previously made the quarterfinals in 2009 and reached this stage again in 2021, where she lost to Tamara Zidansek.
The Romanian has continued her excellent season with another strong result. With this win, she has already matched her total of 30 victories from last year while suffering only eight defeats. She has now won at least two matches in 10 of her 12 tournaments this season.
Those results helped Cirstea reach a career-high ranking of No. 18 recently. She now heads into the fourth round with a 2-3 record at this stage of Grand Slams and is chasing a third major quarterfinal appearance.

Wang Keeps Rolling at Roland Garros
Xiyu Wang defeated Yuliia Starodubtseva 6-3, 7-5 to reach the fourth round at the French Open. She trailed 0-3 in the opening set and later found herself down 2-4 in the second, but recovered on both occasions to finish the match in straight sets.
This was Wang's sixth consecutive win of the week and all six have come in straight sets. It is also the best Grand Slam result of her career, improving on her previous best of reaching the third round at the US Open in 2022.
The 25-year-old was ranked around the Top 50 two years ago, but injuries late in the 2024 season disrupted her progress. Her results declined afterwards and she began the 2026 season outside the Top 200.
Wang opted to play lower-level events to rebuild her confidence and the decision has paid off. She won 21 of her 23 matches on the ITF circuit this year, collecting three titles along the way. She has now added six more wins in Paris and will try to carry this run even further.
