French Open favorite Iga Swiatek enters her second round with strong momentum after a routine win over Emerson Jones. While Swiatek has not always been consistent this season, her dominance at Roland Garros is undeniable, boasting a perfect second-round record. Sara Bejlek, despite winning her opener impressively, has struggled since her Abu Dhabi title due to a Dubai injury. The pair meets for the first time, but Swiatek is widely expected to progress comfortably based on form and history.

Clay remains Bejlek’s strongest surface, but her momentum was heavily affected by the Dubai injury, which gives Swiatek a clear path toward a dominant win.

Swiatek Eyes Comfortable Passage

  • Sara Bejlek lost her only previous second-round Grand Slam match here at Roland Garros last year.
  • She failed to win multiple matches in eight of nine events this year.
  • Iga Swiatek holds a 7–0 second-round record at the French Open.
  • She owns a 15–3 record against players outside the Top 20 this year.

Bejlek Looks To Build On Paris Win

Sara Bejlek moved into the second round at the French Open after defeating Sloane Stephens in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. She saved all four break points she faced and converted three of her five opportunities on return.

The Czech won her maiden tour-level title in Abu Dhabi earlier this season, but an injury suffered in Dubai disrupted her momentum. Before this week, she had managed only one victory across her previous five tournaments and arrived on a four-match losing streak.

Bejlek is now aiming to record multiple wins at a tournament for only the second time this year after her Abu Dhabi title run. This is also her chance to achieve that feat at Grand Slam level for the first time after her only previous opening-round win in a major ended with a loss to Jaqueline Cristian in Paris last year.

Swiatek Remains Strong Force In Paris

Iga Swiatek moved into the second round at the French Open with a dominant straight-sets victory over young Australian Emerson Jones. Although she dropped serve twice, Swiatek broke her opponent six times during the match.

The Pole has struggled for consistency at times this season and recently went through three consecutive tournaments without recording multiple wins. She finally ended that stretch by reaching the semifinals in Rome, her first semifinal appearance since Seoul last year.

Those results suggest Swiatek has not consistently reached her usual level in recent months, particularly in longer matches where maintaining intensity has become more difficult.

Despite those concerns, the 24-year-old remains extremely reliable in Paris. She has never lost before the fourth round in any of her previous seven appearances and has already lifted the title four times.

Verdict

Sara Bejlek usually produces her best tennis on clay, but her injury in Dubai earlier this year significantly slowed her progress. Against a dominant player like Iga Swiatek, she faces a difficult challenge, with the world No. 1 favored to secure another straight-sets win.
