Mboko Eyes Another Deep Paris Run

Victoria Mboko moved into the second round after a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win over Nikola Bartunkova. The Canadian dropped serve once and converted six of the 10 break points she created during the match. 

Mboko has continued her strong clay-court form in recent weeks after reaching the Strasbourg final, where she came close to winning her maiden clay title before losing to Emma Navarro in three sets. 

The 19-year-old has rapidly improved across all areas of her game this season. Finals in Adelaide, Doha and Strasbourg, along with quarterfinal runs in Miami and Indian Wells, helped her break into the Top 10 within a year. 

Mboko also carries a solid 2-1 record in Grand Slam second-round matches. One of those wins came here at the French Open, where she reached the third round on her debut appearance.

Siniakova Ends Match Strong in Paris

Katerina Siniakova defeated Simona Waltert 6-4, 7-6 in the opening round. Despite the straight-sets win, Siniakova struggled on serve, producing nine double faults and facing 12 break points during the match. 

The Czech has played a limited schedule this season but still managed notable runs to the fourth round in Indian Wells and the third round in Madrid. She will now look to regain momentum ahead of the demanding second half of the season. 

Siniakova holds a solid 4-2 record in French Open second-round matches, although she has not recorded multiple main-draw wins in Paris since her 2021 campaign.
