Joint will be lifted by the home crowd and should not go away quietly. Even so, Andreeva’s class and consistency should be enough to see her through in straight sets.

Mirra Andreeva Back on Track in Adelaide

Mirra Andreeva ended 2025 on a low, failing to reach a quarterfinal after the grass swing and winning just four matches from Montreal onward. She has responded well in Australia, reaching consecutive quarterfinals this month, helped by byes at both events.

Last week, the teenager edged past Linda Noskova and Olivia Gadecki in three-set battles before falling to Marta Kostyuk in the last eight.

In Adelaide, Andreeva made quick work of lucky loser Marie Bouzkova, winning 6-3, 6-1 in just 69 minutes. She is now on course to match or better last year’s tally of six wins in Australia.

Maya Joint Climbs Closer to the Top 30

Maya Joint reached the quarterfinals after Ajla Tomljanovic retired early with a back injury in their second-round clash. That result, paired with her tight straight-sets win over Sofia Kenin, sends her into the biggest quarterfinal of her career on home soil.

The Australian enjoyed a breakthrough season last year and now sits on the verge of the top 30. Her rise began in Australia with a maiden WTA quarterfinal and semifinal showing in Hobart.

Joint carried that momentum throughout the year, lifting titles in Rabat and Eastbourne and reaching the semifinals in Seoul and Hong Kong, confirming her rapid rise on tour.

Verdict

Joint is unlikely to roll over, driven by home support and momentum. Even so, Andreeva holds the stronger hand and is backed to assert her quality and win the matchup.
