Badosa Targets Return to a Clay-Court Final

Paula Badosa moved into the semifinals after defeating Panna Udvardy 6-4, 7-6. She twice trailed by a break and saved three set points in the second set before closing out the match in straight sets.

With this victory, Badosa snapped a four-match losing streak in tour-level clay-court quarterfinals and reached her first clay-court semifinal since Stuttgart in 2022.

This is also her first tour-level semifinal since the Australian Open last year. It is a much-needed result after struggling with fitness issues and inconsistent form over the past two seasons. She is currently on an eight-match winning streak across all levels.

Badosa heads into this clash with a 4-13 record in WTA tour-level semifinals. She has lost eight of her last nine matches at this stage, with her most recent semifinal victory coming in Washington in 2024.

Zidansek Matches Last Year's Iasi Run

Tamara Zidansek secured her place in the semifinals after defeating Petra Marcinko in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. It was a more comfortable performance compared to her opening two rounds.

With this run, Zidansek has matched her result from last year's Iasi tournament. She also reached the semifinals in 2025 after winning her first three matches in straight sets before losing to Irina-Camelia Begu.

The 28-year-old has produced five quarterfinal-or-better finishes this season on the lower-level circuit, with four of those coming at WTA 125 events, highlighting her consistent form over the past seven months.

Zidansek owns a 3-4 record in WTA tour-level semifinals. Her most recent victory at this stage came in Lausanne in 2021, and she will be looking to reach another tour-level final.
