Alex de Minaur heads into Wimbledon full of confidence after impressive runs in recent grass-court events. His consistent success on grass and strong record in Wimbledon openers put him as the clear favorite against Roman Burruchaga, who remains inexperienced on this surface. Burruchaga, despite some recent breakthroughs, faces a tough challenge in his first-ever main-draw match at Wimbledon. The article strongly favors De Minaur, predicting a straight-sets win and recommending bets on both a De Minaur sweep and on under 31.5 total games.

Alex de Minaur arrives at Wimbledon in excellent form after reaching the final in 's-Hertogenbosch and the quarterfinals at Queen's Club. The Australian has consistently produced some of his best tennis on grass, with his speed, consistency, and returning ability making him a particularly difficult opponent on the surface.

Facing clay-court specialist Roman Andres Burruchaga in the opening round presents an ideal opportunity for De Minaur to make a strong start. The Argentine has limited experience and success on grass, leaving him with a difficult task against one of the tour's most reliable performers on this surface.

De Minaur Targets A Comfortable Opener

  • Alex de Minaur holds a 6–1 record in Wimbledon first-round matches.
  • He has won 16 of his last 17 grass-court matches against players outside the Top 50.
  • Roman Burruchaga has a 1–1 record in first-round Grand Slam matches.
  • He is 0–2 against Top 20 opponents.

De Minaur Carries Confidence Into Wimbledon

Alex de Minaur played two lead-up events on grass ahead of Wimbledon and produced notable results in both, reaching the final in 's-Hertogenbosch and the quarterfinals at Queen's Club.

The Australian has built good momentum in recent weeks after a disappointing stretch between Acapulco and Rome, during which he won only four matches across seven tournaments.

This will be de Minaur's eighth main-draw appearance at Wimbledon. He has cleared the opening round in six of his previous seven appearances, with his best result being a quarterfinal run in 2024.

Burruchaga Ready for Main-Draw Challenge

Roman Burruchaga started the season outside the top 100, but a couple of Challenger finals along with his maiden ATP Tour final in Houston a few months ago helped him reach a career-high ranking of No. 56, earning him direct entry into the Grand Slams.

The Argentine recently recorded his first Grand Slam main-draw win by reaching the second round at Roland Garros. He defeated Sebastian Baez in the opening round before losing to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second, in just his second Grand Slam main-draw appearance.

This will be Burruchaga's third appearance at Wimbledon. He previously competed in qualifying twice but failed to reach the main draw on both occasions. He made his first-ever grass-court main-draw appearance at Eastbourne last week, where he lost to Arthur Fery in a tight three-set first-round match.
