Karolina Muchova is poised to continue her standout grass-court season at Wimbledon, entering the third round on a six-match winning streak and fresh off her Bad Homburg triumph. She has not dropped serve in her opening matches and owns a perfect record against lower-ranked players in 2026. In contrast, Mananchaya Sawangkaew has broken new ground by reaching the third round with spirited wins, but lacks experience against top players. Muchova’s form and pedigree make her the clear frontrunner to progress.

Muchova Builds on Bad Homburg Triumph

Karolina Muchova defeated Zhang Shuai in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, to move into the third round at Wimbledon. Earlier this week, she also beat Anastasia Zakharova by the same scoreline, and impressively, she has not dropped her serve in either match.

With this victory, Muchova extended her winning streak to six matches after lifting the title in Bad Homburg last week. It has already been the best grass-court season of her career, and she will now look to carry that momentum further at Wimbledon.

The Czech has continued her outstanding season by registering five semifinal-or-better finishes, highlighted by the biggest title of her career in Doha. She also reached the final in Stuttgart and the semifinals in Brisbane and Miami.

Muchova has followed a remarkable pattern at Wimbledon, either losing in the first round or reaching the quarterfinals. She reached the last eight in her first two main-draw appearances in 2019 and 2021 before suffering four consecutive first-round exits. She is now looking to continue that trend by making another quarterfinal run this week.

Sawangkaew Eyes Historic Wimbledon Run

Mananchaya Sawangkaew moved into the third round at Wimbledon after defeating Alycia Parks in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0. It was a comfortable victory after surviving four consecutive three-set matches, including a first-round win over Roland Garros finalist Maja Chwalinska.

This is the first time the Thai has won a tour-level match outside Asia in her career. She had never won more than two main-draw matches at a tour-level event before, with her previous best results being quarterfinal appearances in Guangzhou, Jiujiang and Singapore.

Sawangkaew has produced consistent results on the lower-level circuit this season, winning three titles, including the WTA 125 event in Mumbai and the W100 tournament in Gifu. She will now look to build on that momentum and continue her impressive Wimbledon run.

Verdict

Mananchaya Sawangkaew has enjoyed an impressive run to the third round and shown great resilience throughout the tournament. However, Karolina Muchova is playing some of the best grass-court tennis of her career and arrives full of confidence after her title-winning run in Bad Homburg.

Her experience and current form give her a clear edge to extend her winning streak and progress to the fourth round.
