AZ Alkmaar’s back line is having a rough season, conceding more than 1.50 goals per Eredivisie clash. Sparta Prague face similar problems, so I expect both sides to find the net on Thursday.

AZ Alkmaar were beaten in the Conference League Round of 32 first leg at Noah 1-0, but recovered at home and advanced with a dominant 4-0 display, Sven Mijnans netting a brace. 

They are currently under caretaker manager Lee-Roy Echteld who stepped in after Maarten Martens was sacked in mid-January due to poor domestic results.

Sparta Hit a Rough Patch Recently 


Sparta Prague wrapped up the Conference League group phase with three straight wins over Legia Warsaw 1-0, Universitatea Craiova 2-1 and Aberdeen 3-0, finishing in 4th place. 

Brian Priske’s side is having problems in their domestic competitions recently, getting eliminated from the Czech Cup by Mlada Boleslav on penalties (0-0 in regular time). 

Last weekend, the Garnets had a 1-0 lead at half-time against archrival Slavia Prague thanks to Patrick Vydra’s goal, but collapsed in the second part and lost 3-1. They remain in 2nd place with a 10-point deficit from Slavia.
