Brazil and Egypt round off their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a friendly clash at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Both teams have good quality going forward and are expected to find the net here.

Key Stats

  • Brazil have scored in nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • Brazil have conceded in five of their last six matches in all competitions.
  • Egypt have scored in six of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Brazil on Top

Brazil have won their two previous matches against Egypt, with the South Americans claiming a 4-3 victory in the 2009 Confederations Cup before a 2-0 triumph in a friendly in 2011.

Selecao Showing Signs of Improvement

Brazil have had about a year under manager Carlo Ancelotti and appear to be improving as the World Cup approaches. The task for the five-time world champions will be to reclaim their elite status on the global stage.

The Selecao have looked solid lately, winning their last two matches. They claimed a 3-1 victory over Croatia before easing to a 6-2 triumph over Panama in their previous friendly a week ago.

Blessed with talents like Vinicius Junior and Raphinha, Brazil have looked sharp in attack lately, scoring nine goals across their last two matches. However, their defence needs a bit of work, having failed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last six matches.

Pharaohs Pushing for Global Impact

Egypt have been one of the dominant teams in African football over the years but are yet to make a mark on the global stage. They are preparing for the World Cup in North America and believe they have a team worthy of holding their own this summer.

The Pharaohs have been solid enough lately and are unbeaten in their last three friendlies, claiming a 1-0 victory over Russia in their previous fixture. Hossam Hassan’s men also held out for a 0-0 draw with Spain, while a 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia is also among their recent results.

Like Brazil, Egypt also have quality in attack, with Trezeguet, Omar Marmoush and Mohamed Salah often turning up for the national team. All three men can combine to trouble a Brazilian defence that has been unconvincing lately.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Brazil (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Wesley, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhaes, Alex Sandro; Danilo, Casemiro; Rayan, Raphinha, Vinicius Junior; Igor Thiago.

Defensive duo Marquinhos and Gabriel are likely to return, having missed the win over Panama due to their involvement in the UEFA Champions League final. The likes of Rayan, Danilo, and Igor Thiago could also be pushing for a start after impressing off the bench last time out.

Egypt (4-2-3-1): Mohamed El Shenawy; Mohamed Hany, Ramy Rabia, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Karim Hafez; Mohanad Lasheen, Marwan Attia; Mohamed Salah, Emam Ashour, Trezeguet; Omar Marmoush.

Captain Salah was not involved in the win over Russia and could earn a start on Sunday. Veteran goalkeeper El Shenawy is also set to feature, having sat out the previous friendly.

Verdict

Brazil have put up impressive attacking displays in recent matches but remain unconvincing at the back, conceding at a worrying rate.

Egypt have the quality to take advantage of that shaky backline, and Sunday's clash could see both teams score.
