Czech Republic vs Mexico Betting Tips & Predictions – Win or Draw for the Czechs at the World Cup 2026

Mexico have already clinched the top spot in Group A after two wins and are likely to rotate the squad, which could benefit the Czech Republic. The Czechs must avoid defeat to stay in World Cup 2026 contention, having earned just one point from their opening two games. While Mexico remain unbeaten, their performances have lacked dominance, especially against South Korea. Experts suggest the Czech Republic are well-positioned for at least a draw, recommending a 'double chance' bet on Czechia.

Mexico are likely to rotate here after securing 1st place in Group A. This should help Czech Republic to grab at least a point, maybe even all three to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Key Stats

  • Czech Republic are unbeaten in 7 of their last 8 matches.

Just One Previous Meeting

The only time these two sides locked horns was in February 2000, a friendly match won by the Czech Republic 2-1.

Czechs Need Points to Advance

The Czech Republic claimed just one point from the opening two rounds at the World Cup 2026 which means anything but a win here would send them home.

They started the tournament by scoring an early goal against South Korea, Ladislav Krejci scoring a header on Vladimir Coufal’s assist but then the opposition took over and scored two unanswered goals, leading to a 2-1 loss.

A similar scenario was seen in the second round where the Czechs gained an early lead against South Africa through Michal Sadilek but then gave out possession and midfield control, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Mexico Playing Stress-Free

Mexico not only clinched a spot in the Round of 32 after winning their opening two games, but also secured 1st place in Group A.

Their performance in the opener against South Africa was not that impressive, but enough to take a 2-0 victory against defensively oriented side. Julian Quinones broke the deadlock here nine minutes in, while veteran Raul Jimenez sealed the result in the second half.

The Mexicans allowed more space and two goal opportunities to South Korea in the second round, but were lucky to take a 1-0 victory here. Luis Romo was the sole scorer in the 50th half after the opponent’s goalkeeper made a big mistake.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Czech Republic (3-4-3) Matej Kovar; Tomas Holes, Robin Hranac, Ladislav Krejci; Vladimir Coufal, Tomas Soucek, Michal Sadilek, Lukas Provod; Patrik Schick, Adam Hlozek, Pavel Sulc

I expect Czech Republic to start with three strikers here since they need three points to advance. Pavel Sulc was heavily criticized for his performances so far, but their options are quite limited.

Mexico (4-3-3) Carlos Acevedo; Jorge Sanchez, Israel Reyes, Jesus Gallardo, Mateo Chavez; Erik Lira, Luis Romo, Orbelin Pineda; Roberto Alvarado, Guillermo Martinez, Alexis Vega

Javier Aguirre is expected to rest some of his key players like veteran Raul Jimenez, Julian Quinones, Edson Alvarez and potentially a couple of others.

Verdict

Mexico won both of their games so far but failed to impress, especially against South Korea where the opposition missed three huge chances to score. Co-hosts are also likely to rotate, so I like Czechia’s chances of grabbing at least a point here.
