Georgia had a disappointing start to the new UEFA Nations League campaign, suffering an unexpected 1-0 home loss against Northern Ireland on Friday. 

Their best player Kvicha Kvaratskhelia missed a penalty in the 65th minute, while conceding deep in stoppage time. They had 1.71-1.09 xG and 62% possession. 

Willy Sagnol's side looked solid in their June friendlies, holding Romania to a 1-1 draw then defeating Bahrein 2-0. 

Ukraine Won Three Big Points on Friday 


Ukraine are off to a great start in the UNL, collecting three points against Hungary on Friday, claiming a 1-0 victory in Budapest as underdogs. 

Danylo Sikan was the sole scorer, finding the net on Gheorghiy Sudakov's assist just before the break. The Blue & Yellows finished this clash with 1.28-2.03 expected goals, 43% possession and 10-17 shots. 

Ukraine are looking consistent under coach Andrea Maldera who took over from Serhiy Rebrov earlier this year. They defeated Poland 2-0 in his debut in late May but lost the follow up clash to favorites Denmark 2-1.

Georgia deserved more from Friday's encounter against Northern Ireland, and I expect them to be highly motivated to make a better impression on Monday. Still, Ukraine are looking strong under their new coach, so a draw looks like a realistic option.
