Konyaspor have seen a huge improvement since February when Cagdas Atan was replaced by Ilhan Palut. They are unbeaten in 10 of their previous 11 matches.

The only slip up came in a recent 3-2 defeat at Rizespor. Jo Jin-Ho opened the scoring but they couldn’t go on with the job in a close encounter.

Palut’s side bounced back by reaching the Turkish Cup final. They withstood heavy pressure at Besiktas but stayed in the contest, Enis Bardhi’s 98th minute penalty securing a vital 1-0 victory.

Fenerbahce Faltering in the Final Stages


Time is running out for Fenerbahce who sit three points behind Galatasaray with four games remaining. A poor run of form has seemingly derailed their season.

The Istanbul club were knocked out of the Turkish Cup after a shock 1-0 extra time defeat at Konyaspor. They returned to the Super Lig with a damaging 3-0 loss at Galatasaray.

Talisca failed to convert an early penalty and Ederson was sent off shortly after half-time, but the hierarchy were not forgiving. Domenico Tedesco was sacked alongside sporting director Devin Ozek and football coordinator Berke Celebi.

Zeki Murat Gole got the job for the remainder of the season and guided Fenerbahce to a 3-1 win against Istanbul Basaksehir. Talisca hit a hat-trick to make it 24 goals this season.

Verdict

Fenerbahce’s season is on the verge of unravelling and recently lost to Konyaspor in the Turkish Cup. I am expecting the Super Lig title race to end in Konya where a draw is on the cards.
